MODALISBOA PULSE: MARQUES'ALMEIDA SS 2013

Marques' Almeida has had a great success out there after their participation at London Fashion Week. We are never tired of seeing streetstyle's pics with the unmistakable denim pieces of the duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida. The Vogue UK said about Marques' Almeida's collection: " DON’T underestimate the power of denim. It’s no one-trick pony and in the hands of Marques’ Almeida – aka Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida – the Central Saint Martins and Fashion East alumni who manage to find a constant fascination with the fabric you’ll find underpins most of our wardrobes." In fact, if in the past they took the most popular and democratic fabric and dissected, ripped, shredded dyed and grated it , in this collection, the duo graduated from Central Saint Martins keeps true to their "distressed" vibes that took them into street style blogs and website and loved by fashionists all over the world., now they experienced a new cleaner and lighter territory. We could see pleated skirts, cargo pants and tops with flowing transparencies in a soft palette of white, green, lavender, gray and green. The pieces that remain unfinished with frayed hems that are the Marque'sAlmeida's kind of ADN, now they made frequent visits to the "preppy". I loved the duo's interpretation of the trench-coat a basic of springtime, built in layers of lilac tulle, followed by wide draping coats and skirts with backless tops.

I really loved the casual angst as part of  grunge's own style that is behind the brand's concepts from the beginning, but this collection explored another soft way, less aggressive and seductively feminine. I couldn't  of course forget to talk about these fantastic shoes that became a hit among fashionistas who are identify with the brand that transforms a certain irreverent anguish in a manifesto against the world all "perfect" and finished of the mainstream brands. In fact, perfection could be pretty like the Marques'Almeida's unfinished hems. The clothes weren't really finished when they left the Marta and Paula's hands, but they'll finish when they'll be adapted to the body that will wear them and somebody will carry over each piece to his own personal universe. That's when clothing will be finished. That's why I like this brand so much!

The Vogue UK said about Marque's Almeida collection: " Não subestimem o poder do denim.
