MODALISBOA/ LISBON FASHION WEEK: MARIA GAMBINA FW 12-13

" Otherness" é o nome que Maria Gambina escolheu para a sua colecção Outono/Inverno 2012-13 e que foi inspirada no hockey. Adorei a mistura dos elementos desportivos com outros mais conceptuais e urbanos, num jogo gráfico muito interessante. A silhueta em Y conjuga o oversize com o curto numa atitude bastante irreverente. Uma referência também aos estampados da autoria do ilustrador e tatuador Hugo Makarov, num grafismo original que dão às peças uma forte identidade. Finalmente, não podia deixar de falar nos sapatos de Joao Pedro Filipe para Maria Gambina,  uma autêntica ode ao sport-chic style que conjugam na perfeição com o tema da colecção. Esta colecção como a própria criadora afirmou resulta de um conjunto de influências que vão do spoken world poetry de Kate Tempest ao universo de Elisabeth Fraser, vocalista dos Cocteau Twins. A colecção surje com peças muito trabalhadas ricas em detalhes, sobretudo nas costas muito dificeis de serem apreciados num único olhar. Uma colecção, portanto, para ser degustada com fotos e se possivel ao vivo e a cores.

"Otherness" is the name Maria Gambina chose for his Autumn / Winter collection 2012-13 and was inspired in the hockey. I loved the mixture of sport inspiration with others more conceptual and urban, making a very interesting graphic game. The Y silhouette combines oversize with the short to create a cool irreverent attitude. A reference also to the graphic prints made by the tattoo artist and illustrator Hugo Makarov, giving to the pieces a strong identity. Of course I must talk about the amazing shoes by Joao Pedro Filipe for Maria Gambina, a veritable ode to the sport-chic style that matched perfectly with the collection's theme. This collection is a proof that Maria Gambina is by the bright side of the Prtuguese fashion. As the fashion designer said these proposals results from a set of influences ranging from the spoken poetry world of Kate Tempest to the universe of Elisabeth Fraser, lead singer of the Cocteau Twins. The collection is full of rich details, especially on the back, that makes too hard  appreciated them in a single glance. So look at the photos and ... keep looking!
