As I see it clothes and accessories are an extension of our personality. We wear the pieces we believe represent not only who we are, but who we aspire to be. On one level at least, we use fashion to say where we're going in life. That concept of self-projection, on wanting to be more than average, raises a question for the clothing in your wardrobe: Does it represent you? Or is your wardrobe filled with too many average pieces? So the question is raised as to what attributes you want your clothes and accessories to have and what you want them to say about you. When you look over your wardrobe, can you look at all the pieces and say that they represent who you are and who you want to be?
Para mim a roupa e os acessórios são uma extensão da nossa personalidade. Nós usamos as peças que acreditamos representarem não só o que nós somos, mas, aquilo a que aspiramos ser. A um determinado nível, a moda é usada por nós como um meio para dizer o que queremos nós da vida. Este conceito de auto-projecção, em que acreditamos ser mais do que a mediania, faz nascer a questão perante o nosso roupeiro: Será que ele representa de facto aquilo que somos? Ou está o teu roupeiro está cheio de peças mediocres? Esta questão por sua vez levanta outras que é que atributos queres que a tua roupa e acessórios tenham e o que queres que eles digam de ti? Quando olhas para o teu roupeiro, podes olhar para toda a tralha que lá está e dizer que ela representa o que tu és e, mais, aquilo que desejas ser?

Our clothing and accessories' choices (or the lack of concern about this subject) will tell more about you then a C.V or your professional issues. No matter you are not an avid follower of fashion and you don't know who Galliano is? Or even if you think that Chanel is only a fragance's label... because in some point of your life you will decided to wear this and not to wear that, and when you will come to a clothing departement's store to buy a sweater the question " What will this sweater tell about me?" will be in your subconscious. It is why fashion is so important in the definition of a life style, or what people of an certain age thought about the women (or men) rule in society, what about the freedom of self-determination? These are some questions whose anwers you can find looking pictures of fashion and style of certain time or studying the trends' evolution of a decade.
A nossa escolha de roupa e acessórios ( ou a falta de preocupação sobre o assunto) dirá mais de ti do que um cuidado C.V ou mesmo as tuas questões profissionais. Não interessa o quanto ávido seguidor da moda sejas, ou que não saibas quem é Galliano! Ou até podes pensar que Chanel é somente a marca de um perfume... porque em certa altura da tua vida é obrigada a fazer uma escolha em que a moda está subjacente quer queiras ou não. Quando vais a uma loja de roupa para comprares uma camisola a questão que te colocas quando olhas ao espelho do provador é " O que é que esta camisola dirá de mim?" mesmo que essa questão esteja só no teu subconsciente. É por isso que a moda é um assunto tão importante e infelizmente tão subvalorizado por certas pessoas em determinados meios, designadamente o artistico. A moda diz-nos qual o estilo de vida das pessoas numa determinada época, ou o que as pessoas numa certa era pensam do papel da mulher e do homem na sociedade, qual a liberdade dada à auto-determinação? Estas são só algumas questões cujas respostas podes encontrar ao analisares as fotografias de moda e estilo de uma época ou quando estudas a evolução das tendências de uma certa década.
So when someone said that is not interesting in fashion at all, this maybe true but when he/she make a clothing's choice, in a certain shade of blue, is not so personal and intimate as he/she could think, because somewhere, someone had decided first that this blue's shade will be in stores that season, because some months before someone designed something in that kind of blue to show in the world's runways, and others decided in a different place that this specific blue will become a trend, and who decided that certainly was inspired in what a society was in a certain moment and what people in the street wanted to be. Fashion is a never ending story that everyone takes part even people that doesn't want to, in this global world.
Assim, quando alguém diz com um certo desdem que a moda não lhe interessa nada, isso até pode ser, aparentemente, verdade, mas, quando esse alguém faz uma escolha de uma peça de roupa de um certo tom de azul, essa escolha não é tão pessoal e intima como se possa pensar. Isto porque em algum lugar, alguém decidiu primeiro que aquela peça, especificamente, de certo tom de azul, estaria à venda nas lojas naquela estação, e isto porque outra pessoa desenhou uma certa colecção com peças desse mesmo azul, para apresentar na passerelle do mundo inteiro e que, depois, alguém decidiu que essa peça, nessa determinada cor, se tornará numa tendência e isto se as pessoas escolherem usa-la nas ruas. A moda é uma história interminável de ligações e escolhas em que toda a gente quer queira ou não faz parte, neste mundo global.
