Jorge Queiroz was born in Lisbon, 1966, Portugal and he lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
Since the beginning of his artistic journey in the mid-1980s, the work of Jorge Queiroz has focused mainly on the production of drawings. Although his practice contemplates occasional incursions by painting or video, drawing has been taken as a privileged means for building a universe where figures, spaces, landscapes and architecture are combined with a myriad of signs, marks or stains, revealing a singular imaginary and largely self-referential.
Jorge Queiroz nasceu em Lisboa, em 1966, vive e trabalha em Berlim, Alemanha.
Desde o início do seu percurso expositivo, em meados da década de
1980, o trabalho de Jorge Queiroz (Lisboa, 1966) tem-se centrado essencialmente
na produção de desenhos. Embora a sua prática contemple incursões pontuais pela
pintura ou pelo vídeo, o desenho tem-se assumido como meio privilegiado para a
construção de um universo onde figuras, espaços, paisagens ou arquitecturas se
conjugam com uma miríade de sinais, marcas ou manchas, desvelando um imaginário
singular e em grande medida auto-referente.
Recorrendo a meios de registo tão
variados como a grafite, o lápis de cor, o pastel de óleo, o acrílico ou o
guache, as obras deste artista são compostas por uma profusão de elementos
figurativos e abstractos que se justapõem, fundem ou metamorfoseiam, e que,
através de processos análogos à livre associação, constituem exuberantes ficções
alheias a qualquer narrativa ou guião.
Jorge Queiroz has been quoted by the prestigious ANOTHER Magazine for his latest exhibition that runs until December 2 at Sikkema Jenkins and Co Gallery, New York.

Jorge Queiroz foi citado pela ANOTHER Magazine pela sua última exposição em Nova Iorque na Sikkema Jenkins and Co Gallery, até 2 de Dezembro.
