fashion heroines: FASHION RIO INVERNO 2011

It began last Monday, on January 10, the Rio de Janeiro fashion week - FASHION RIO WINTER 2011. I just entered on the official website to receive their newsletter and thus be able to comment what is happening in the increasingly international Brazilian fashion.

From what I've seen and researched I can say that I found quite interesting the Rio Moda Hype where young designers had the opportunity to show their proposals, within the Fashion Rio schedule, quite similar to what happens here on Modalisboa and Portugal Fashion. I loved especially to meet the Akihito Hira’s proposals, in a clear fusion between Eastern tradition of the samurai and urban fashion in the West, mixed with Gothic vibes and very interesting sport notes that resulted in a stylish and contemporary tailoring.

Começou na passada segunda-feira, dia 10, a semana da moda do Rio de Janeiro FASHION RIO INVERNO 2011. Acabei de inscrever o blogue no site oficial para receber a newsletter deles e assim poder comentar, ainda que de longe, o que se está a passar na cada vez mais internacional moda brasileira.

Do que já vi e pesquisei posso dizer que achei bastante interessante o Rio Moda Hype onde os jovens estilistas tiveram a oportunidade de mostrar as suas propostas, dentro da programação do Fashion Rio, à semelhança do que acontece por cá na Modalisboa e no Portugal Fashion. Gostei, sobretudo, de conhecer as propostas de Akihito Hira numa clara fusão entre a tradição oriental dos samurais e a moda urbana do ocidente, misturada com vibrações góticas e apontamentos desportivos muito interessantes que resultou num tailoring elegante e contemporâneo.

Lucas Magalhães

Lucas Magalhaes, young designer based in Minas Gerais, has brought us also interesting proposals by exploiting the tendency of graphic patterns and prints on optical games of tulle and knitted and booties to match.

Lucas Magalhães, jovem designer de Minas, trouxe-nos, igualmente, propostas interessantes, explorando a tendência dos padrões gráficos e jogos ópticos de prints em tule e malha e botins a condizer.

Sampler

The Sampler, a label also from Minas Gerais, brought us the written clothes with pop influences and a certain regard of conceptual irreverence that remember us the designer Jeremy Scott's last fashion week in New York, which cannot be said to be something very unique. In my opinion, the designers Aderlize Martins and Daniel Escobar, responsible for the creative designs of Sampler, will still have to invest a little longer to find a stronger identity that is imposed in this competitive fashion world.

Sampler, label também de Minas Gerais, apresentou roupa com escritos conceptuais a lembrar a irreverência do designer Jeremy Scott na última semana da moda de Nova Iorque, o que não se pode dizer que seja algo muito original. Na minha opinião as designers Aderlize Martins e Daniela Escobar, responsáveis criativas da Sampler vão ter ainda que investir mais um pouco na busca de uma identidade mais forte que se imponha neste competitivo mundo da moda.

But it was Julia Valle who presented my favorite designs of this new wave of designers. She introduced us to a quite conceptual show which reminds me the strong vibes of urban and contemporary conceptualism by Aleksandar Protic , one of my favorite designers of the Lisbon Fashion Week, or even an organic line and deconstruction pretty like the Portuguese newcomers on the main stage during Lisbon Fashion Week – The White Tent. The Julia Valle’s collection titled TNWMLC was inspired by the deconstruction of sentences on the QWERTY keyboard of an old Smith Corona typewriter, 1956. In the photos of the show which I had a chance to grab in the net, I loved the volumes and deconstructions achieved through drapes, moulage, pleats, stitching; A note also to the lyrics machine necklines, and Oxford shoes in bared legs which, probably, will become a great trend.

Mas, os meus designs preferidos desta vaga de novos estilistas foram certamente os que Julia Valle nos apresentou no seu desfile bastante conceptual, a lembrar-me bastante o conceptualismo urbano e contemporâneo de Aleksandar Protic que quanto a mim arrasou na última ModaLisboa, ou mesmo a linha orgânica e de desconstrução dos estreantes no palco principal da semana da moda de Lisboa White Tent. A coleção intitulada TNWMLC, foi inspirada na desconstrução de frases sobre o teclado QWERTY de uma antiga máquina de escrever Smith Corona, de 1956. Das fotos do desfile de Julia Valle que tive oportunidade de sacar na net, adorei os volumes e as descontruções conseguidas através de drapeados, moulages, plissados, pespontos; Uma nota também para os colares de letras de máquina, assim como os sapatos Oxford nas pernas nuas que pode muito bem virar tendência.

Martins Paulo

A final word for the great show of Martins Paulo whose heavy-chic designs and aesthetic took me to Gareth Pugh and Versace in a very hot mix! He rocks! I love to die the sandals and the strong colors.

Uma palavra final para Martins Paulo cujos designs heavy-chic me levaram para uma curiosa mistura entre Gareth Pugh e Versace, uma estética sedutora, sexy com vibrações metal-punk. Adorei as sandálias e as cores fortes.
