INSPIRATION: LONDON FASHION WEEK - MARQUES'ALMEIDA SPRING/SUMMER 2014

 

 

 

 

 

I'm following the work of Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida since the early days of the Marques'Almeida brand which I am a huge fan since the first time I saw the denim pieces of this duo of young Portuguese graduated from Central St. Martins in London, that is one of the world's most prestigious schools of fashion design. It is therefore with great pleasure that I watch the growth of the brand and its popularity, it is not uncommon to see fashionistas from various backgrounds landed with Marques'Almeida creations on the streets of NY, London, Tokyo, etc.. and picked up by street style photographers at the door of the parades from fashion weeks. It was not surprising to me that this season the talented duo's debut on the main calendar of the London fashion week where they presented last tuesday their new collection Spring / Summer 2014, as well as a review + photos from the collection on Style.com that you can see HERE . The denim is still the Marques'Almeida's obsession that showed during their short career the coolest jeans ever been made. However like in their autumn / winter 2013-14 collection, the brand matured and diversified to create pieces made of noble materials without losing that vibe of London's aesthetic based in the cool & chic-grunge easygoing girl who loves marques'almeida's mood. Once more the duo signed the most desirable pieces of denim in recent times. Fortunately Marta Marques e Pauço Almeida agreed to be part of the official calendar of MODALISBOA that welcomed them from the beginning of their careers, as part of the LAB platform. So I can not wait to see the collection now live on the 13th October, at 17.30, in Lisbon.

 

 

(Per)Sigo o trabalho de Marta Marques e Paulo Almeida desde os primórdios da marca Marques'Almeida e sou sua fã incondicional desde a primeira vez que vi os jeans deste duo de jovens portugueses (ainda estudantes) graduados pela Central St. Martins em Londres, uma das escolas de design de moda mais conceituadas do mundo. É, pois, com enorme satisfação que assisto ao crescimento da marca e à sua popularidade, não é raro ver fashionistas das mais diversas proveniências pousarem com peças suas, nas ruas de NY, Londres, Tóquio, etc. e apanhados por fotógrafos de street style à porta dos desfiles das semanas de moda. Não foi pois surpresa para mim esta estreia do talentoso duo no calendário principal da semana da moda de Londres, onde apresentaram esta semana a sua nova coleção Primavera/Verão 2014, assim como a review da coleção e fotos no Style.com que podem ver AQUI.  O denim continua a ser a obsessão de Marques'Almeida que na sua ainda curta carreira conta já com os jeans mais cool que alguma vez se fizeram, mas, à semelhança da sua coleção de Outono/Inverno 2013-14 a marca amadureceu e diversificou-se para materiais nobres sem perder aquela vibe londrina de uam estética cool&chic-grunge da easygoing girl marques'almeida e assinando das peças de denim mais desejáveis dos últimos tempos. Felizmente que o duo de criadores acedeu fazer parte do calendário oficial da MODALISBOA que os acolheu desde o inicio das suas carreiras, então na plataforma LAB. Pelo que mal posso esperar por ver a coleção ao vivo já no próximo dia 13 de Outubro, pelas 17h30, em Lisboa.

INSPIRATION: BLUF SHOES

 

 

I just had access to the first lookbook of the new Portuguese footwear brand, the BLUF SHOES, and I loved what I saw. The first models are not yet in stores, but I will indicate briefly where will be the points of sale. One more proof that the Portuguese footwear industry ROCKS! The focus on excellence design, in line with the international trends, the great quality of materials and finishes, as well as a careful and urban image are conquering the world. Now let's do away with the black cloud of the crisis ... and learn how to do it!

 

 

Tive acesso ao primeiro catálogo da nova marca portuguesa de calçado, a BLUF SHOES, e adorei aquilo que vi. Ao que sei os primeiros modelos ainda não estão nas lojas, mas, brevemente indicarei onde serão os pontos de venda. Mais uma prova de que a indústria do calçado português ROCKS! A aposta no design de excelência, na linha das tendências internacionais, na qualidade dos materiais e acabamentos, assim como uma imagem cuidada e urbana está a conquistar o mundo inteiro. Ora vamos lá acabar com a nuvem negra da crise... e aprender como se faz! 

INSPIRATION: MIX PRINTS AND BE HAPPY

Some might still hold on to the days it used to be considered a fashion faux pas, but the mixing together of prints, patterns and textures that don’t necessarily belong together, grew to become one of the biggest statements of the fall 2013 in terms of fashion trends. Eccentric, bold and unpredictable, the runway inspiration can be of course played down for everyday life. With that in mind, the rest should only be about having fun and embracing the adventurous side of fashion. Make the best use of your imagination.


Ainda não há muito tempo a mistura de padrões num mesmo look costumava ser considerado uma gafe fashion, mas a combinação de estampas, padrões e texturas que não necessariamente pertencem à mesma familia, cresceu para se tornar um dos maiores declarações do outono 2013, em termos das tendências da moda. Excêntrica, ousada e imprevisível, a inspiração vem dos desfiles e terá que ser sempre adaptada à vida quotidiana e ao working dress code. Com isso em mente, resta assumirmos o lado aventureiro da moda e sobretudo, divertirmo-nos fazendo uso do melhor da nossa imaginação.

The opening in the Colorida Art Gallery it was the perfect moment to get a new look out of summer and into the fall 2013, and try some hot trends in cobalt blue mixed with dark shadows. All Zara sales and really friendly prices.  

A inauguração de uma exposição na Colorida Art Gallery pareceu-me o momento ideal para ensaiar algumas tendências novas, num look em azul cobalto e preto, a despedir-se do verão e a dar as boas-vindas ao Outono 2013.
