PRADA F/W 2012-13 - THE PLEASURE OF FASHION

Prada had been season after season my favorite collection from Milan fashion week, and it's the most expected fashion show too. So big expectations brings great responsabilites for my fashion heroine Miuccia Prada but she never let me down! Fall/Winter 2012-13 collection is pure pleasure for who loves fashion as I do. 

Prada tem sido época após época a minha colecção favorita da semana da moda de Milão, e para mim sempre o desfile aguardado com mais ansiedade. Grandes expectativas trazem grandes responsabilidades para a minha fashion heroine Miuccia Prada, mas, ela nunca me deixa ficar mal. Esta colecção para o próximo Outono/Inverno é puro prazer para quem ama a moda como eu amo.

Whenever I see a Prada's show I get the feeling that a few more lines in the history of fashion were been written, even though Miuccia often take refuge in the past to create the future. The Prada's statement is always to create a powerful woman, a truly warrior but feeling like a princess, in this case a avatar of a princess of the digital era.  

Sempre que vejo um desfile da Prada fico com a sensação que se está a escrever mais umas linhas na história da moda, ainda que Miuccia muitas vezes se refugie no passado para criar o futuro. Um statement da Prada é sempre o poder, ou seja, criar uma mulher poderosa, uma verdadeira guerreira mas que se sente uma princesa, neste caso um avatar de um princesa da era digital.

"Everyone has a theory about their collections these days, but I'm sick of theory. This collection is about the pleasure of fashion." Said Miuccia Prada, and this collection is the proof of that - less theory and conceptual meaning and more "play and go". The prints are stunning as the embroideries made of multilayered constructs of Plexi and sequins took power to a more female seductive way. 



"Toda a gente tem uma teoria sobre as suas próprias colecções por estes dias, mas eu estou farta de teoria. Esta colecção é sobre o prazer da moda" disse Miuccia Prada. E esta colecção ilustra bem as suas palavras - pouca teoria e significado conceptual e mais "joga e vai". As estampagens são fantásticas e os bordados em construções de multicamadas de plexi e brilhos levam o poder para o campo da sedução feminina.

Miuccia Prada loves playing with the kitsch and false "bad-taste" which turns into glamour achieved by the quality of the clothes and acessories. The Prada shoes ( and Miu-Miu) are always a new statement each season. She really revamp the cliché and make it a cool statement without forgetting the menswear tailoring inspiration that give the real power to the looks. I can't wait to see the looks translated in real life!

Miuccia Prada adora brincar com o kitsch e o falso "mau-gosto" que nas suas mãos se torna em glamour um pouco por causa da grande qualidade dos tecidos e acessórios. O sapatos Prada ( e também Miu Miu) são sempre um novo statement em cada estação. Ela realmente consegue como ninguém renovar o cliché e fazer dele um statetment cool sem esquecer a inspiração do tailoring vindo directamente do guarda-roupa masculino que confere o factor poder aos looks. Mal posso esperar por ver estes looks transpostos para a vida real!

INSPIRATION: McQ Fall 2012 - The Second Line of Alexander McQueen

London Fashion Week ended with a big moment of fashion: The McQ fashion show. McQ, a brand that has coexisted uneasily with Alexander McQueen since its launch six years ago, had a new light when Sarah Burton decided to give it her genius as we could see on the catwalk for the first time ever. Burton shook out the key elements of the McQueen aesthetic—the romance, the dark glamour, the tailoring—and expressed them in an accessible way, and made us to believe that that clothes should be beautiful, at any price. Following the old idea that the "diffusion", "second" or "sister" line, has always been to produce accessible clothing at a lower price point, usually shown at low-key presentations, is now being changed by Sarah Burton's new premises.The McQ men's and women's line is being produced in-house, under the direction of Burton, and the proof was here: Beautiful clothes made in heaven, indeed, but what will be the price, friendly enough? I don't think so. 

A semana da moda de Londres terminou da melhor maneira com um grande momento de moda: O desfile da label McQ. Sendo esta uma segunda linha lançada há 6 anos atrás que nunca coexistiu facilmente com a principal Alexander McQueen, vê agora ser revitalizada a uma nova luz pela designer sensação Sarah Burton, aparecendo, assim, pela primeira vez na catwalk. Burton limitou-se a fazer aquilo que sabe melhor, juntar os elementos-chave do ADN de Alexander McQueen - o romance, o glamour negro e o tailoring - recriando o estilo mas desta vez de uma forma mais acessível. Se há alguém que nos possa fazer acreditar que é possível criar roupa lindissima a preços acessíveis é certamente Sarah Burton. E a colecção que Burton dirigiu para McQ é a prova disso mesmo, desafiando a ideia velha e preconceituosa de que a premissa de qualquer marca de segunda linha é fazer roupa mais barata e muito vestivel, com apresentações de baixo custo. Resta saber o quanto mais barato (e acessível ás bolsas normais) vão ser vendidas estas peças de sonho!

INSPIRATION: THE TWO-COATS LOOK TREND!

During the fashion weeks all the the heads are facing "what's new around?", and the main trends may be spotted on the street, not only at the catwalks. This season's spot was the two-coats trend, first at New York, and after at London in the biggest carwalk of the world: The Street, near the fashion shows as you can see by these shots by Jak and Jil's Tommy Ton.

Durante as semanas da moda, todas as cabeças se levantam em busca de "O que há de novo por aqui?", e as principais tendências são muitas vezes despoltadas na rua, pois, com a explosão de blogs de street style e dos respectivos fashionistas a disputarem uma foto do blogger mais famoso, deixaram de ser um exclusivo da passerelle para passarem a ser lançadas na maior catwalk do mundo: A Rua, principalmente a que fica mais perto dos locais dos desfiles. Esta estação a tendência estrela foi o duplo casaco, tendência que já vinha de trás com a moda das camadas. Primeiro em Nova Iorque e depois em Londres eis a tendência mais quente captada pelas lentes de um dos mais famosos bloggers de street style e o meu favorito, Tommy Ton do Jak and Jil.

LONDON FASHIN WEEK: MOTHER OF PEARL F/W 2012-13

Mother of Pearl is in its fifth season but this is the first time Maia Norman and Sue Foulston's label has shown at London Fashion Week. It was a great opportunity for me to know the label better and I loved the looks. Each season, the brand creates a collection that adapts the work of a different artist like Jim Lambie, Keith Tyson, and Fiona Banner. This time out, the artist in the house is Fred Tomaselli which work made by collage paintings are really amazing to be turned into prints.

This is a label that delivers clothes you can wear whether on your holidays or working, and you can adapted the cool pieces to your style easily with sporty pieces and simple yet refined tailoring. When I saw the collection for next Fall I had a hard back to one of my fave music's from the 70's: Mother of Pearl by the Roxy Music.
