MAKING OFF AT JOAO LAMARES' STUDIO

Today I took part of a photoshoot at Joao Lamares's studio featured by the fresh face Cristina Isaac. The photographer Joao Lamares is creating a book for Cristina, who is trying her chance as a model, and I'm sure she will get her dream soon because she is amazing and very professional. She has a great personality and she can always get at first what the photographer wants besides she has so little experience in modeling. 

This making off was photographed by me which demonstrate how cool was the time we spend together at the studio. I love doing this... 

Hoje participei num photoshoot no estúdio de Joao Lamares com a fresh face Cristina Isaac. O fotografo Joao Lamares está a criar um book para o portfolio da Cristina que começou a perseguir o seu sonho de ser modelo. Tenho a certeza que ela vai ser bem sucedida porque a Cristina é fantástica e muito profissional. Ela tem uma grande personalidade e consegue apanhar à primeira o que o fotógrafo pretende apesar da sua pouca experiencia ainda como modelo.

Fotografei este making off como testemunho do ambiente cool e muito divertido que decorreu durante o trabalho no estúdio. Adoro MESMO fazer isto!

 

  

 

FRIDAY'S INSPIRATIONS: SILENCE

Silence is the relative or total lack of audible sound. By analogy, the word silence may also refer to any absence of communication.

 

Silence is also used as total communication, in reference to non verbal communication and spiritual connection.

Silence is also referred to no sounds uttered by anybody in a room and or area...

Silence talks louder then any word...  

Inner silence is not just the absence of thoughts. No! Silence is the blossoming of our indomitable inner will.

... a rhythm in your hair,

(your fingertips

the way you move)

the painter of your voice...

The most beautiful silence is the unfolding of an orchid,

Your inner voice after making love,

The thought before its birth,

The quiet love that comes after the passion being satisfied,

Some pleasure to come and the hope to be.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: THOM BROWNE FALL/WINTER 2012-13

The Thom Browne's fall/ winter 2012 women's collection was one of the most inspirational and conceptual fashion shows from New York Fashion week. The showing of  started with a eulogy delivered before a row of 10 open, coffin-like boxes, each occupied by a gray-suited model whose face and and hands were covered in gauzy white fabric. The beautiful 11 models of the show represented all the women who loved life, loved fashion, and died for fashion.

A colecção Outono/Inverno 2012-13 de Thom Browne foi apresentada num dos desfiles mais inspiradores e conceptuais da semana da moda de Nova Iorque. O show começou com um  panegírico proferido antes da abertura de uma fila de 10 caixões, cada um ocupado por uma modelo vestida com um fato cinza com face e mãos cobertas por gaze branco numa simbologia de renascimento. As fantásticas 11 modelos representaram as mulheres que amam a vida, amam a moda e morrem pela moda.   

If the monocromatic color pallette of white, black and grey didn't catch the eye, it was the texture that ran the collection. Each piece used a multitude of different fabrics - cable knits, tweeds, tulle, flannel and fur - folded, buttoned, draped and layered into swales, sculpted into geometric humps and bumps and festooned with mirrored squares or flattened fabric foxes.

Se a monocromatica palete de cor em branco, negro e cinzento não encheram o olho, o mesmo não se pode dizer da textura que regeu toda a colecção. Em cada peça foi usada uma enorme variedade de tecidos - fio de lã, tweed, flanela, tule e pêlo - moldado, abotoado e drapeado em camadas achatadas, esculpido e enfeitados com quadrados de espelhos.

 

Some pieces used the fabric to create the same kind of graceful architectural curves and arcs Frank Gehry renders in undulating metal, while others were shaped from below and beneath, using bustles, boning and other hidden infrastructure to create beautifully misshapen silhouettes.

Algumas das peças usaram o tecido para criar o mesmo tipo de graciosas e arquitecturais curvas semelhantes aos arcos de Frank Gehry em ondulantes estruturas de metal, enquanto outras peças foram moldadas a partir de baixo para cima, provocando movimento através de infraestruturas escondidas para criar lindissimas silhuetas desconstruidas.  

There is a great similarity between the style of Thom Browne and the imaginary world of Tim Burton, both of the worlds explore the same ethereal fantasy, only apparently with a little conexion with reality (the fashion show's soundtrack, was drawn from Tim Burton movies), and it was easy to remind Rei Kawakubo's exaggerated body modification.

Existe uma vincada semelhança entre o estilo de Thom Browne e o mundo imaginário de Tim Burton, e não foipor acaso que a banda sonora do desfile foi inspirada nas músicas dos filmes de Burton. Ambos, designer e cineasta, exploram uma fantasia etérea que só aparentemente nada tem a ver com a realidade, sendo mesmo uma métafora poética do mundo real. Por outro lado, não foi dificil lembrar-nos constantemente das modificações exageradas do corpo operadas por Rei Kawakubo de que sou fã absoluta.
